Yeah, it was pretty great

Just got back from the theaters, and yeah AOU was pretty incredible. The humor was really funny, I thought Ultron was a good and somewhat sympathetic villain, and I loved Vision and his introduction scene.

I think it might I actually like AOU more then the first. My only really complaints had to do with the 3D which made the action scenes at times feel kind of unbearable to watch.

I wasn't waiting, I was just sitting and breathing. Got a problem with that?

I enjoyed it in 2D (I checked the "should I watch in 2D or 3D" site first). I wouldn't rate it quite better than the first, but it was pretty close, and I agree with the points you raised about what was good about it. They are so lucky to have Joss Whedon--this could have been a hash with almost anyone else.

I originally saw in IMAX 3d and then saw it again in 2D. 2d was superior and I liked the movie overall the second time. Fantastic film.

reply

Yeah, the IMAX 3D was lacking. Thought I was sitting really up close, that may have had something to with it. With IMAX 3D you need to sit as far back as possible.

I'll probably go see it in 2D again sometime.

reply

Absolutely! Makes me wonder what Infinity War will be like with The Russo Brothers. I hope it's really good, and I have confidence that it will be.

I know I do.

Whether you saw it opening weekend or see it now, the answer has been pretty consistent. A vast majority labels this a great sequel.

reply

AOU was awesome.

reply

What's not great? How about the government that said on Wednesday 11 million people who have disability insurance will lose some aid as funds are expected to run dry in 2016.

reply

I hope we see Ant-Man as an official Avenger sooner rather than later.

Finding the words to express how much we all loved this movie isn't that hard.

I get it, they were just that good.

reply

I loved the fact that there were new ideas everywhere in this film yet they also gave us the formula that made the first film the best of all-time. If it ain't broke...

One thing no one can say is that Marvel is in danger of getting stale.

Watching the big guns at the head of Marvel work their magic is an education in itself.

Isn't that why all these posts express the true love of a great film?

reply

People that are saying that the hard copy medium is dying are going to be surprised at how well this movie sells.

Genius always finds itself a movie too early.

Tori Welles great?

The Walt Disney Company is one of the largest and most successful businesses on Earth, with strong diversification and a phenomenal operating history.

Even Warren Buffett claimed that, after selling the stock after a year of holding it for a 50% gain, was a major mistake of his.

We will all miss Joss Whedon but we are also in good hands with the Russo Brothers. Everything they've shown us so far has been pure gold.

reply

The whole world went crazy for this film and it set up Civil War. The world will own another debt of thanks to Joss Whedon that we can never repay.

reply

Bottom line: The MCU is great for the film industry! Everyone can see that at this point in history.

reply

The WB is a "bottom line" company. Sure Marvel wants to make money but it do so by caring about its fans and about the quality of the movies they produce. Again, unlike the WB.

reply

A simple 'great' doesn't quite cover it. This movie was as good as we could have hoped for in a sequel to a team movie. So much ground to cover and they nailed it.

reply

I'm so glad AoU hung around the real cinemas until this week so that it could hand it off to Ant-Man.

reply

Externally or internally, we all are saying similar things and know how good this sequel turned out.

Studios forget who they are playing to with these films. Fox's attempt to re-boot Fantastic Four failed because it tried to be too many different films at once. It was like halfway through the film executives decided to make a whole other movie.

Meanwhile The Man From U.N.C.L.E. failed domestically because Warner Brothers didn't realize they were more in love with Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer than the general public was… had the film had two more famous leads, it likely would have done better.

Sony saw Pixels power down early because it was banking too heavily on Adam Sandler's past successes and not his recent track record, while Fox's Paper Towns crumbled because it picked a female lead nowhere near as well-known as Shailene Woodley. Nothing against Cara Delevingne, but Woodley's reputation got people into the seats with Fault In Our Stars.

Not to pick on Tomorrowland, but there is such a thing as playing it "too close to the vest" and that's what happened here. Audiences like following bread crumbs but they expect a payoff at some point prior to opening day.

It also doesn't help give away the entire film in the trailer….i.e. Terminator: Genisys.

reply

Yeah, I can fly.

Just incredible. It's almost like a Christmas miracle.

I was dissapointed, no new ideas.. It was bland and uncreative, boring action scenes and no imagination on how to use and make the heroes powers look cool.
Ultron was beyond a terrible villian.
Way too many one liners and a very flat climax.. Why dont the avengers actually have to fight the villian? Ultron is a powehouse, i wanted a full on climax of the avengers all taking ultron on... Never happended we just got a few jokes on ultron and then a Hulk ko.
Booooooriiinnnng!!!
Aou makes we fear the future of Marvels Universe, it ruined all hype i had for future movies. I already know that every other movie will basically be the same movie now... The Marvel formula is getting painfully stale..
What shall we bet that thanos will be this exactly aswell?
Villian comes, he want World domination, 2-5 action scenes and 160 one liners later hero wins, forgets all about villian and sees ya the next time a movie comes out about exactly the same thing.
Marvel IS transformers and people are idiots for not seeing it.

reply

Not to get off topic, but what did you think of Bloodline? Been debating on whether I should start it or not since I heard its super slow.

reply

Whatever happens, we all need to watch Agents of SHIELD in the fall. That's all that matters. Support Marvel for all they give to us.

reply

Even if it's not as great as the original Avengers it's still pretty damn great.
