Danny Elfman and Brian Tyler???

It's hard to say, really. It's good to have variations in score, cause one of my few issues with the Dark Knight Trilogy was how pretty every music piece sounded the same, there was that cool Joker theme and Deshi Basara but that's about it, to be honest.

But the MCU does have a lack of consistency in music. I think it's mainly because the composers don't want to do multiple films of the same franchise and want a little more variation, even John Williams is staying out of Rogue One. And when the replacing composer tries to copy the themes from the first one, it often mixes badly with their own themes and ideas. The reason you don't hear much Elfman in this is because he was busy trying to weave the Avengers theme into Tyler's music.

However, most of the scores do fit the films and characters well. For example, Alan Silvestri's 40s-style march for Captain America is great, and the Incredible Hulk's music was subdued and unpredictable like Hulk himself. The Guardians Of The Galaxy also had a good, memorable score at times. And I still think the greatest MCU score besides Avengers is Driving With The Top Down.

I think this is one of my main problems with the music in the DC Extended Universe so far. None of the themes except Batman's really fit the characters that well. Superman's theme holds no candle to William's, Lex's theme sounds like it was more suited to the Penguin than Luthor, and Wonder Woman's theme should be more majestic and orchestral, instead of a generic electric guitar riff playing in every scene she was in. I couldn't even hear the score in Suicide Squad because every minute they played an overly loud pop tune.

Elfman's work on AOU I actually found really good, and he was the composer replacement after Tyler breached his score contract. The problem is, that a lot of his work was drowned out by sound in the film, not to mention that some of his best cues were cut-out, including one where he actually references Silvestri's Captain America theme, because someone in Marvel apparently hates themes. It's ridiculous.
