The check for his half of the estate...
Selling the "estate" of their parents would not necessarily have to include the house... but it definitely would include the house since they were both kids at the time.
But when the brother gets out, his sister sits down with him to hand him a check for his half of the estate. Again, at their age, the house would be sold as well.
She claims that the house was awarded to her when she turned 18. That's very doubtful. No part of the US is going to allow a house to sit in limbo for years with no legal owner... it would either be sold or auctioned.
Also, if she somehow did end up with it... who maintained the house? who maintained the lawn? who paid the taxes? who paid the utility bills???
Also, she could barely carry anything... how did she install the boat anchor contraption on the ceiling?
