I was just wondering if anyone knows any movies that are like this where a family has some crazy stuff happening to them....slow building nightmare type movie...doesn't have to be an alien movie of course.

"Fire in the Sky" comes to mind, even though the movie is very different from the book. Also "Communion" with Christopher Walken, and a little 1992 made for TV movie called "Intruders."

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Poltergeist. I was definitely thinking about that one when all the stuff was stacked up in the kitchen.

It's about a family stalked by aliens on Thanksgiving night. My only beef
with the movie is that every 15 minutes the story is cut by interviews regarding
the incident. Other than that, the film is good.
