Anyone else give up on this before the end?

I just couldn't take it...too depressing. I think I gave it 30 minutes and had to turn it off. The deer-skinning scene was the final straw. I can't remember the last time I didn't stick it out until the end of a movie.

I will say, the little I saw I was impressed with Nicholas Cage. He is a great actor.

First off it's Nicolas Cage. And secondly, if you gave up on this masterpiece I am worried about you.

Gave up on this but would probably sit through crap like Adam Sandler's recent slew of movies

I didn't it was a fantastic film depressing certainly but then again I'm a fan of darker cinema.

Yup. I am a diehard Nic Cage fan, and watch all of his films, but this was not for me. I too got to the deer-skinning scene and turned this film off.

I gave up when drunk dad beat homeless drunk to death. It tipped my limit on brutality and depression.

I quit after about a half hour too. All that poverty was just way too bleak. I went back to watch the rest though, wanted to see what happened. Fair warning, it gets worse.
