Electromagnetic pulse and the earpiece

The EMP from the watch as seen, cause the bionic eye to burst. Shouldn't it also have exploded Bond's earpiece. I really cant come to terms to how stupid this movie was throughout.

reply

Also there is no way EMP can be generated by a battery inside of a watch, unless of course that is a mini nuclear bomb, which then will kill everyone in sight.

reply

There's no way the majority of things that happen in a James Bond film could happen. A watch generating a tiny EMP is one of the more plausible things we've seen.

reply

Q did specify it had a very limited range. I thought the same thing when he blew up the guy's eye, but if the pulse is small and only affects things within, say, 6 inches, the watch would be fine.

reply

Electric pulse that powerful enough to burn physical circuits is not something can be confined to a small range or direction.

reply

At that time both of their heads were at the same position. It highly improbable that it only affects everything apart from Bond. I suspend my disbelief and just agree that somehow such a gadget exists, but it should be uniformly effective on everything within range.

reply

And he should have been able to use it to destroy the nanobots too since it was so powerful.

reply

Not all nanobots are machines, most of them are actually biotech, virus or bacteria based, can't be destroyed by EMP.

reply

Biotech isn't nanobots. And 100% of viruses can be cured.

But yes your other suggestion makes sense, other nanobots.

It was completely contrived in my opinion.

reply

They say that the nanobots cant be destroyed. In one their renders it also shows that they are somehow binding with cells. I can't be sure but these nanobots have been portrayed more as a bio weapon rather than an electronic tool to kill people. More like a virus. That's how I inferred them based on the behavior that they get transmitted by touch. But I may be completely off track.

They could have easily avoided the fancy word nanobot and it would have made much more sense.

reply

I think they use the word nanobots to be vague, but whatever it is of course it can be destroyed, by other nanobots.
