The official theme song just dropped:

I don't like it. I can barely understand the words.

I just listened to it myself. It really is remarkably unremarkable and not what I expect from a 007 theme song.
sharePost modernist Nihilistic emo bs ....terrible song especially for a Bond movie but anyway the Graig era sucks so it fits
shareI agree with the post-modern label because this is not real singing. She is whispering because she has very limited vocal range, and expanding her dynamic range will expose that limited vocal range. Virtually any human being on earth can sing well at a very quiet volume like she does. It's not difficult to go between highs and lows, but as soon as you try to sing louder and fluctuate volume it becomes extremely hard. This is an example of post-modernism because it is a deconstruction of what singing actually is. You don't even need to know how to sing or have any formal training in singing to be a singer anymore. I highly doubt that Billie Eilish ever trained in a conservatory or sung in a choir growing up.
That's not to say Bond music has to be high art or anything, but this is really a new level of absurdity in the culture at large.
It's very Billie Eilish. I don't think any of her songs are the lyrics articulated. It's all a mumble to me.
Best Bond Themes:
A View to a Kill
Live and Let Die
Goldfinger
Sheena Easton had a great song.
shareNot bad
shareIt's OK but not amazing. At least she sang one note with power. I get the newer Bond films have a more serious, darker tone, but I wish the theme songs would go back to the belty-bombastic ones. The last really good one was probably Skyfall. No, actually the last best Bond song wasn't actually a Bond song. You all should look up Ivy Levan's "Who Can You Trust" (the full, 4+ minute version) from that Melissa McCarthy Bond-inspired comedy movie called Spy. They should hire the writers of that song to write the next Bond theme. It's amazing.
shareI agree. Shirley Bassey's various songs set the standard for "belty-bombastic". Adele was a worthy successor. Tom Jones' Thunderball was the sole male in this category.
The pop songs -- Live and Let Die, View to a Kill -- were catchy but date themselves.
Have you heard the slowed-down version of Beyonce's "Crazy in Live?" It was used for one of those 50 Shades movies. It's very Bond-esque. Opening piano tinkle, slow, low lyrics and orchestra that builds and builds... would have been perfect.

There's a video of Shirley Bassey singing "Goldfinger" live that's incredible. Yeah, I love Beyonce's remix of "Crazy in Love" and agree there is something very Bond about it. Though, I have to admit, I think Sofia Karlberg's cover of it is a little better than Beyonce's redo. Sia's "Kill and Run" from The Great Gatsby is another one that could easily be a Bond theme.
shareJust listened to that Sia tune. I'd never heard of it before but, yeah, totally has a Bond vibe to it.
shareCan we all agree that Madonna's Die Another Day was THE worst theme song?
It was memorable though... which is unfortunate.
