Why did Jessica Chastain signed on for this?

It's clearly that this movie will flop.

If you look at the trivia for this movie, you'll see Jessica Chastain was contractually obligated to be in this film- ie she had no choice.

Maybe she wanted to show her looks off in a more action type movie. I dont think Ive seen her ever look as good as she did in this film. For the first time I was thinking Holy crap, she looks hot! I dont see how the film can do her a disservice even if its regarded as a 'flop' because any straight male who sees her in it will likely want to see more of her in upcoming films. I know I do.

Despite what everybody says it wasn't contractual obligation but money. Craig Mazin recently started a podcast and in one episode he mentioned personally writing a letter to Chestain convincing her to join the movie. If she was really contractually obligated as everyone says why did she need convincing?

Maybe she was "contractually obligated" to participate in A movie for Universal but not which one. Then maybe the director thought she would fit the character and then convinced her to make this movie the one she HAD to do for the studio hence fulfilling her obligation.

What do I know, it's just a thought

It was one of the worst casting roles i have seen in a long time.

She looked old even when it was 10 years earlier and they were training.

Dreadful

That is more on the makeup team then the actress though. They could have made her look younger but didn't do there job well. Maybe she just wanted a large pay check. Maybe she wanted to try being in such a film. We don't know and probably never will.
