As a kid Eric was hanging around this girl. Then after he rapidly ages into an adult while swinging an axe, she just disappears and he's with Jessica Chasitan.

shareNo, that was just the movie's way of jumping ahead in time. It was also done later in the movie, when the narrator stated, 'Days turned to years." At that moment (about 26 minutes from the picture's beginning), the movie jumped from a prequel (or some say backflash), to a sequel, with all the events in SWATH having just occurred during the narration.

No, I understood the seven years passing thing. The film just showed Eric rapidly turn into an adult with one axe swing before that.
