Am I the only one, who basicly hates all the women in the series, they are so annoying wtf! Eleanor Guthrie, Max, Anne Bonny, mrs. Barlow, they are all equally annoying. Ok maybe Anne is ok, but still annoying!
As Rackham says in season 2 episode 6 at 4 minutes and 48 seconds, and I qoute: "Listen... Do you hear it? NO women!"
And I simply agree, i need fights and canonballs, i certainly like when Flint gets to business! And again, *beep* Max and mrs. Guthrie!
Me too, I like her character and Louise Barnes is such a great actress (especially in S2). I also really like Idelle, she is very smart, funny and... gorgeous!

Gawd, am I tired of Max's droning. On and on, with that fvcking fake French accent (she's from freaking CALGARY, ALBERTA fer Chrise sake... about as far away from Montreal as you can get and STILL be considered Canadian). It's almost as bad as listening to Penelope Cruz!
I hate it too, how they've made her this sage... ALWAYS soooo damn smart... figures EVERYTHING out, as if she's NOT the mulatto whore that she is, and some sooth-seer.
Quite frankly, I'm sick of writers and producers making these women out to be WAY more than they were even ALLOWED to be in the 1700s. I KNOW that women would not watch this if they were portrayed truthfully, but sometimes they go overboard.
Women's roles in society and life in general, were way below their station in "Black Sails". Like children, they were to be seen and not heard.
You light-in-the-loafers fanboys who think of women as being equal to men, can go right ahead and call me misogynistic... I DON'T CARE. Truth hurts, I know, but believe me... women would NEVER get away with the sh*t they do on Black Sails.
If you don't believe me, take a look at this. I decided to do the legwork for you lazy millenials.
Errrr... you said Pocahontas, and NOTHING about Anne Bonny.
Anne Bonny: ANOTHER legend, whose past is suspect, becaaaaause...
"Official records and contemporary letters dealing with her life are scarce and most modern knowledge stems from Charles Johnson's A General History of the Pirates..."
Hmmm... more legend than lie? There's far more to believe about Bonny being a "badass", than that mouthy mulatto version of Sherlock Holmes. LOL
Shoot her, cut out her tongue, then shoot her tongue.
Errrr.... Yes I said Pocohontas, you're point? Errrr... You don't have one. I suppose it wouldn't occur to you that in those times when men brutally oppressed women and considered them unequal that they would also suppress any brave or brashly independent acts that women of that time may have committed . Hence, scarce "official documents" I'm amazed that there is even one. Since there are more than one I'm kinda believing it. Hmmm... More truth than lie. Mouthy Shirlley Holmes women rule, of all colors.
You jumped from Pocahontas to Anne Bonny, as if they were in the exact same realm. Pocahontas was made famous for "saving" the life of an Indian captive, Englishman John Smith, in 1607 by placing her head upon his own when her father raised his war club to execute him.
Historians have suggested that this story, as told by Smith, is untrue.
MORE legends and lies.
"Pocahontas was captured by the English during Anglo-Indian hostilities in 1613..."
Yeah... she was a bright one.
I suppose it wouldn't occur to you that in those times when men brutally oppressed women and considered them unequal that they would also suppress any brave or brashly independent acts that women of that time may have committed.
Anne Bonny was married to a pirate, gaining her a little leeway, I'm sure. And you have NO idea WHAT she did, either bravely or brashly. Her legend is all you have.

Anne Bonny and Mary Read (pirates) were both mentioned in a 1720 proclamation by Gov. Woods Rogers which was published in the Boston Gazette. Mary Read's 1721 burial was recorded in the records of St. Catherine's Church, Jamaica. Somehow I don't think the Governor would be mentioning " legends" in a highly published article, and Mary Read's death a year later certainly adds credence to the reality of their existence.
Somehow I don't think the Governor would be mentioning "legends"...
Somehow, (notice the punctuation) I don't think you know the meaning of the word legend. "Legend", other than it's true meaning, CAN mean someone was famous, but it can also mean INfamous.
Pay close attention to meaning number 3.
infamous [in-fuh-muh s]
1. having an extremely bad reputation: an infamous city. 2. deserving of or causing an evil reputation; shamefully malign; detestable: an infamous deed. 3. deprived of certain rights as a citizen

Also, Anne Bonny and Mary Read were said to disguise themselves as MEN, living under false identities. This makes perfect sense considering the times. This would explain the lack of documentation you describe, too bad there actually are some, I know you hate it.
... why they weren't treated AS women... riiiight?
YOU said it yourself... "This makes perfect sense considering the times", meaning women WERE treated pretty harshly and were NOT given equal standing as men.

Yup, you are sorry and annoying. You provoked this conversation and when I called you out on your bull, you reverted to pettiness instead of defending you're original argument. Boys will be boys.
Ok, I see, Trump AND his Bitch won, congratulations! Study some history, your homophobic lifestyle has been around FOREVER, Trolls like you are garbage, don't think I don't know where you came from. Peace ✌️Out🖕
Lol, everything you said was gay. You don't even get it. Wasnt making fun of anyone but you, those other posts were months ago, had nothing to do with your post. Trump. Bitch.
Nassau is a place of misfits though, so it makes sense that the female characters on this show would break the mold. The showrunners have talked about how Eleanor was so committed to Nassau because it was the only place she could be taken seriously as a business woman. If she went to England or Boston she would have to resign herself to being the woman you described (seen but not heard), but Nassau is different. It's an island of rebels who kill and steal and do what they want - women included. Nassau is much more inclusive of women and homosexuality and I'm surprised you don't understand that.
The only one i hate is Max... The others are chill and hell Mrs. Barlow that bitch dies at the end of season 2 so why count her in anyway.... Anne and Madi are cool but yeah screw the rest... Max and that grating accent.. Christ
everytime I saw Max onscreen I find myself imagining a painful death for her. yeah I hate this b!tch so much and I agree with you her. But I like Mrs Barlow / Eleanor / Anne / Madi so I don't agree with you about them.
