The true & intersting story of the nassua pirates, and the man who brought them down"...fictonal account of the history starting with avery founding the Republic all way the way through with Bellamy, blackbeard, hornigold, vane and woods rodgers...really good read and one of the most acurate accounts I could find...that's wasn't written in 1780 lol.

It's not even close to a pirate book, but one of the most entertaining characters in A Song of Ice & Fire, who unfortunately did not retain this trait in the show is Euron Greyjoy. Theon's uncle who was exiled and became a notorious pirate. In fact, most of the pirates on this show are better than show Euron just by default.
Someone else mentioned the Crichton book, haven't read yet, but a huge Crichton fan.

Flint and Silver by John Drake.
It's a different take on writing a Treasure Island prequel....I enjoyed it, but I haven't gotten around to the 2 sequels he wrote (would that make them presequels...or seprequels...?)

Cinnamon and Gunpowder by Eli Brown
A very entertaining novel about a chef kidnapped by a notorious female pirate....piraty action and good food...

The Bloody Jack series by LA Meyers.
More of a teen lit vibe....but the audiobooks read by Katherine Kellgren are fun.

On Stranger Tides.

I agree with all the ones mentioned...especially On Stranger Tides. One that hasn't been mentioned is Under The Black Ensign...it's short but worth reading for sure. I love pirate books... I actually wrote an ebook called The Pirate Raiders if you get really hard up...

All of mine are non fiction.

''The Buccaneers of America'' (1680)

''The king of pirates...an account of the famous enterprises of Captain Avery'' (1720)

Of course ''A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the most notorious Pyrates '' (1724)

Some of my favourite recent works include

''Privateering and Piracy in the Colonial
Period'' (1923)

''Under the Black Flag: The Romance and the Reality of Life Among the Pirates '' (2006)

''Pirates In Their Own Words'' (2014)

''Jolly Rogers, the True History of Pirate Flags'' (2015)

Under the black flag is awesome, though your publication date is off, as i've had my copy of it since at least 1999...
