Why was the premiere on a Sunday?

I know the rest of the episodes are set for Saturday on it's usual day. But why was the premiere on a Sunday?
Is it because they do the premiere on a Sunday. I saw this series late last year. This is my first time watching it as it comes out.

reply

Because I commanded it. Oh and the next episode will also be on a Sunday.

reply

How do you know the next ep is on Sunday?

IMDb says Saturday and next week's promo doesn't mention a date.

reply

This new season air sundays.

BeCause my DVR said so. Of course they can be fickle that way.

reply

Probably because it no longer has to compete with Game of Thrones on Sunday night (although I'm not sure which time slots each is in, personally), since GoT is premiering later in the year.

reply

What difference would that make. It's the last season regardless.

reply

It never had to compete with GOT since it aired Jan thru March and GOT aired April. "Black Sails" has been my favorite generic GOT substitute for a long time.

I'm gonna miss the misadventures of these self-righteous pirates.

But why DID they decide to go on Sunday? More ratings? Go out with a bang on a more decent time slot? They're feeling super good about this last season? Saturday filled up? Not that it really matters, I guess.

reply

You are right. I stand corrected. GoT didn't start until April so no overlap with Black Sails.
