Billy and John

Why does Billy want John Silver to lead over Flint. John Silver doesn't have any military, sailing, or fighting experience. I always thought that was weird.

reply

He doesn't necessarily want Silver making the decisions so much as he wants to use him as the face of the revolution. He knows the men from the crew will follow Silver anywhere and the people in the island were already spreading stories after the bar speech. He basically sees Silver as a fresh start where they finally have someone to lead the rebellion without dealing with Flint's treachery

"Removed a man's head with a metal shoe..."
Yeah, that story will spread itself.

What's Flint's treachery? 

Oh and btw, Madi said there were three men who knew where the treasure was buried. Someone remind me who the third one is?

Rackham is the third man.

Flint's treachery: He intended to lay aside a portion of the Urca haul to rule Nassau; he framed mutineer Singleton for having stolen the Urca's schedule; he murdered Mr. Gates, his best friend, to prevent the Ranger from abandoning the Walrus as consort. He might/might not have tried to murder Billy to prevent his revealing the contents of Mrs. Barlow's letter to Boston.

Have I overlooked something?

reply

Yeah but even after everything Flint did, Billy forgave him and defended him as it goes on. Even after everything Flint did, i just found it weird after all this time supporting this guy (Even though Flint has gone insane) why you would want a man like Long John Silver to lead the men when he has barely no fighting skills, military, or sailing really over someone who does.

reply

Billy made it clear in seasons 2 and 3 that he only supported Flint because he knew he was the only one who could hold all the pirates together for the coming battle and strike fear into the British forces...that is until Silver proved to be able to lead the men with even more admiration from them. In short, Billy did not like Flint, but put up with him for the greater good until he found himself a better option.

Thanks for the name of the 3rd guy. I bet confused about the politics of all this. Plus, it's difficult to remember back to season 1 or 2. It was years ago after all. 
