Lolly's schizophrenia

So Healey never even tried to get Lolly medicated? I find it interesting when he was so quick to get SoSo on meds in the previous season. He knew Lolly had delusions and was clearly schizophrenic but never attempted to get her on the right medication? I don't understand that.

Healey saw what the meds and treatments did to his mother and I think he wanted to avoid that with Lolly. He was hoping actual counseling would benefit her enough, but (like usual) he was wrong.

I'm pretty sure he did put her on meds. At one point she said how their were several versions of her and she commented how the meds made her feel numb. But meds don't "fix" you. They can help but they can make you feel not yourself and your body changes and meds need to be adjusted.

Meds can only do so much to help someone.

Yeah there is never a 100% fix with meds alone. I've been on an antidepressant for anxiety and depression for about 5 weeks and it helps but it's not a complete cure

That's because most doctors settle for the "safe" but weak drugs that ppppppppale in comparison to the real mind altering ones. Nardil I learned is the true anti depressant/social anxiety reliever, most people I know on the net said its next to a cure but most doctors are two scared to prescribe it to people. Most have to settle for weak SSRI's which barely do anything.

Oh trust me I'm well aware meds aren't a quick fix, I just felt like she deserved being treated completely with meds and therapy, and I get why he tried to kill himself, feeling like he failed Lolly and his mother and at his job yet again etc, but I was just surprised he didn't try that route as well. I was under the impression his mom had been getting shock therapy and that's a completely more severe route than getting Lolly on some anti-psychotics. But I guess he thought he was better at his job than he really was as usual and his ego made him skip it all together... But like I said I was just surprised considering how quick he was to get SoSo medicated.

Schizophrenia is pretty complex. I don't think Healy was actively trying to do her wrong. Meds can make people pretty zombie-like.

No non med therapy is going to work for disorders like bi-polar and schizophrenia. those are disorders that NEED to be treated with medicine. therapy is completely USELESS for schizophrenia. Therapy is useless for most chronic brain disorders. you need medicine for that. For some people, medicine completely cured them of schizophrenia.

While I agree in most instances it should be treated with meds there are some cases where meds make it worse. John Nash for example functioned far better without meds.

I have schizophrenia, I hallucinate every day, and have been off meds for over 15 years and I cope very well. There is no way to describe how awful meds are. Medication is not always the answer. There are plenty of other therapies that have better results. I have almost completed a science degree, which I never would have been able to on meds. Many people with mental illness who are meds are dying 15 years earlier than the general population. I also question your statement that meds can cure schizophrenia.

Healy's an idiot who thinks way to highly of he's incompetent mind.

But, yes, I think he did try to get her on meds. I think he mentioned getting her on some regiment.
