Season 4 is boring

S3 was so great, I saw epsode after epsode until the end.

Now I'm on the fourth epsode of S4 and I'm so bored. I'm giving up. This show will be better or continues boring?

I had a similar reaction - the focus on Maria at the start of Season 4 just seemed dull to me. I didn't buy her becoming head of some previously non-existent Dominican Cartel when in previous seasons she was a forgettable wallflower. But the season does get better as it moves along in my opinion.

I think it gets better, but I miss the old COs and their group dynamic. I don't want this show to turn into OZ where every guard is either incompetent, a cruel psychopath or really rapey.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I am also watching the forth season and it's really boring and just going no where. This show had so much charm and humor in the first two seasons, the original guards were also as interesting as the women inmates, but the change in S3 and S4 is where its really taking a dive. This season characters like "Big Boo" and "Sophia" are kept so low profile and yet they keep showing the new Hispanic inmates who are constantly in some conflict with the old inmates and its just getting so redundant and you want to Yawn. I don't even like "Piper" story anymore and what I use to like about the show was the situations and conversations that these people had with each other and their relationship with the guards,Sam and Caputo who had to make sense of the chaos in that prison. The new guards make the show too harsh and generic and that central humor of the show seems to be vanishing in season 4. This was one of my favorite shows and now I don't know if I want to even watch season 5 ?

Season 3 was the WORST, IMO. The whole love-triangle storyline with Piper, Alex and Stella was dragging. The toast Norma storyline was stupid. The storylines and dilemmas in season 4 were FAR more interesting. I prefer the drama over the comedy in this show, considering that it's set in prison, I like the fact that the comedy is getting toned down a bit. I think season 4 is definitely the best season, I feel like the show is only getting better. I can't wait for season 5.

Gets MUCH better. I thought the same thing as I was watching, but it definitely gets better.

Yep, I thought S4 was a slow-burner but what an incredible season finale; much better than the previous lake ending of S3.

If you're only on the fourth episode, that really isn't too much to go on.

Don't give up! It will get better. It is a more serious season for sure. I hear that the Emmy Board made the producers CHOOSE a category for their show: Is it a comedy or a drama? I think they are opting for the drama category in season four. Why can't there be a "dramedy" category? I miss some of the humor that existed in the previous seasons.

There are underlying issues here in this season four that are institutional, human, social, and global. Corporate greed is a major theme that seems not to be on every viewer's radar. I haven't seen it mentioned much on the boards, but then again, I haven't read too many of the boards for OITNB. Corruption and cultural intolerance are other themes. Season four gets down and dirty. You may just want to stick with it.
