Jules is way too forgiving

If I cheated on my wife, she'd confront me immediately, possibly violently. If I tried to ask for forgiveness, she would probably scream in my face. If I tried to hold her hand while saying I'm sorry, she would probably punch me in the face. But Jules is all like "I'm sad. But he loves me. So I will give him another chance." Not even like "I'm not ready for you to even touch my finger yet, get the *beep* away from me, we need months of therapy." Just "OK, I'm pretty much over it already."

Well I don't think she was over it "already". But yes, I see what you're saying. She handled it better than I would've. I would be upset if my boyfriend cheated on me and I would just break up with him. I don't think cheating is ever acceptable. I would just feel like I couldn't trust him anymore. There is no point if there is no trust.

But there are some people out there that don't exactly see cheating as an automatic deal breaker like you and I. Especially if there were other aspects involved. Like Jules not being involved in their family as much as she should've, putting her career before him, etc.

Again, I'm not excusing him because I also felt she was too forgiving. She was very passionate about her job and goal oriented, which is good. However, people look at all the details instead of just the one detail (cheating).

In the circumstances, I would have given him a second chance. Why?

She felt attached to him, like he was the only one for her.
It was a very difficult time in which this happened.
He came forward with it himself, and it was over, and he showed genuine caring for her.

All those things matter, in contract to someone who, eg, gets caught, maybe denies or says it's no big deal. Very different.
