WHY did they have to cast such an unattractive husband for her?

When it turned out he was cheating on her, I found it laughable.

Um, Anders Holm is freaking hot. But the hair and glasses and nice guy thing kind of obscured what makes him attractive.

"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."

reply

I don't think he is unattractive, however I think they dressed him down and frumpy looking [spoiler]to not give away the fact he is cheating. If he was clean looking and dressed up, the viewer would most likely think no way is he happy just being a house husband, he is probably cheating on her[\spoiler].

reply

Just to temper your argument, the wife is not the bee's nuts when it comes to physical attractiveness. Plus she backstabbed Ben, her mother and doesn't even know the names of her top employees. The actress may be cute but the character was fugly.

He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.

reply

I think you got that the other way around. A large portion of people would say Anne Hathaway is about as attractive as a woman can get. Although I agree that her character was flawed. But that was the point...

reply

HAHA NO.SHE IS CUTE,HORSEY AND VAGUELY PLAIN.

reply

The wife is not attractive? Wha...??

I thought it was a given that Anne Hathaway is beautiful. Not "cute".

Because only conventionally good looking people cheat? Because you have to be hot to have sex? Seriously?

reply

No. Because he should value her and be afraid of doing anything to jeopardize their relationship because she is so far out of his league. It's not clear to me how he ever landed her in the first place.

reply

So far out of her league according to who tho? Surely the only one whose opinion mattered here was hers and she clearly loved him whether or not he was a perfect physical specimen.

He shouldn't have cheated irrespective of who was the better looking out of the two.

Would you have laughed if it had been Anne who cheated? Would the fact that she was better looking have made it ok to cheat on him?

Look I do get what you're saying, but in the real world this does happen...my ex husband (who looks like an albino ape meth addict - ok slight exaggeration) cheated on me and I'm miss fricken universe in comparison 

Did you check Annes real life boyfriends. He dated guys far uglier than this guy.

Yes he is not a good actor but definitely can get a girl like Anne in real life.

He probably dating someone hotter than Anne.

reply

If you think looks are the only thing that matters in a relationship then you have a very narrow minded view of relationships.

Youse a bitch, and I'm ain't

OP: Dork fantasy of the scriptwriter.

After all... tomorrow is another day.

exatera: Your statement makes me realize why IMDb is closing down the message boards this month. With shallow statements such as yours, we won't be missing much.

reply

Lol, that's precisely the value of IMDB - being able to say anything you damn please. They are now redirecting people to their FB page, but you know they are going to censor stuff there, and unfettered discussions of anything under the sun will not be possible there.

But hey, if it makes you feel any better to blame me for it (and I've been noticing that lately this blaming each other on IMDB has become de rigueur) - go for it. No skin off my back.

reply

OP: I disagree. The casting was PERFECT! Do you live/work in NYC? The unbathed, bearded, useless look of hipsters is ALL OVER NYC, especially in Brooklyn! Anne Hathaway's character was well established imo. Although, I think Anne was way too beautiful to be this character. She was the typical hipster and girls like her (I'm sorry but, I can't bring myself to call the generation of millennials adults) are attracted to boys like that.
