If Kilgrave Was A She...
Ok this may sound off the wall but I wanna ask. If Kilgrave was a woman, would she be also completely mind controlling and psychotic? Or would it be a different turn?

shareThe way this show portrayed him, she would probably still be just as evil. They made it out that his circumstances led to him taking the selfish path.

If you gender-flipped Kilgrave, I think the role would go to someone like Danielle Harris, Tamara Feldman, or Emilia Clarke.
shareI've heard of Danielle Harris but not the other 2 actresses you mentioned. Has any of them played dark roles?
share???
shareEmilia Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen on GOT and played Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys.
No more games. No more chessboard of life. Now I think I'm just going to beat the $%#@ out of you!!!
Thank you!
shareThe thing is I can see a lot of men doing whatever Emilia Clarke says without the need of superpowers 😅
shareDespite being changed in to a woman, Jeryn/Jeri Hogarth was as devious and sleazy as you'd expect from a morally reprehensible lawyer type. I think they'd keep Kilgrave the same.
shareBut Jeri wasn't psychotic. Just an ass
shareA female Kilgrave could arguably be more akin to a femme fatale.
Actually strike that, didn't Agents of SHIELD have a one-off character who was kinda like a female version of Kilgrave? Lorelei, wasn't it?
Lorelei is similar in that she's basically the Enchantress (Marvel version) and can make men do whatever she wants. But she was also Asgardian and could use magic etc. So not really a "female Kilgrave" exactly.
(and yes she's typically a Thor villain)

I see thanks
Awkward question. If Kilgrave was swapped 2 a woman, what would she look like to you?
On the TV show Alphas there is a female character called Nina with the power of mind-control, in terms of personality and motivations she's very similar to Kilgrave; narcissistic, spoiled, amoral, selfish, manipulate, sexual predator/sex offender (but this is almost entirely glossed over because she's an attractive woman) and so on.
However, unlike Kilgrave she has something of a conscience and tries to be a better person but still this sort power over people can understandably have a corrupting effect regardless of gender.

BTW, I don't believe Kilgrave was psychotic more obsessive and delusional.
"I've watched a LOT of sh*tty movies all the way through to make sure I was indeed wasting my time."
Hey thanks for the link. I have a couple of questions from what you said :
"But this is almost entirely glossed over because she's an attractive woman"
-What does that mean?
"BTW, I don't believe Kilgrave was psychotic more obsessive and delusional"
-Nah dude. He was psychotic in my opinion
It's cool, if you're interested in shows about heroes with super-powers strongly recommend Alphas, it takes a more realstic and down-to-earth portrayal of superhumans as well as having an interesting range of characters, both good and bad.
By glossed over I mean much like Kilgrave Nina uses her mind-control to "push" members of the opposite sex into "relationships" with her and sleep with them but it happens off-scene. One clear instance though she makes someone passionately kiss her and it certainly wasn't consensual, and another she takes a man away from his wife & kid. However, despite the fact she is more or less a sex-offender it is never mentioned, one of the very few problems I have with the show.
Well I'm no psychiatrist but IIRC Kilgrave exhibited no signs of psychosis (loss of contact with reality), definitely a sociopath, a narcissistic as well as being obsessive and delusional. In addition, his official MCU biography makes no notes of any psychosis.

If anything we'll have to agree to disagree.
"I've watched a LOT of sh*tty movies all the way through to make sure I was indeed wasting my time."
BTW, I don't believe Kilgrave was psychotic more obsessive and delusional.
"Making people put their hands in a blender, tear the skin off of each other's faces, cut their arms off, burn their faces with an iron...that's much more than obsessive and delusional"
Word lol
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts, absolutely. I don't think it would make much of a difference if the power came from a man or a woman. Some of the crimes might be a bit different but the motivations would be very similar.
Especially if both people had similar childhood experiences.
