Kilgrave
I love the show, but got tired of using the same villain for the entire first season. I hope season 2's villains don't last more than 1-3 episodes.

shareAgreed!
shareHmm, so what about Daredevil, as Wilson Fisk was the antagonist for the entirety of that show's season 1?
shareBut, in Daredevil, weren't there a few more criminals too? Plus, even with only Fisk, it gave more background info. on him and the plots were more intricate.
Even so, I still like the Jessica Jones series better because of her character.
Kilgrave was the primary antagonist, but he controlled people to be secondary antagonists. Simpson, for example. At the same time, Jessica herself is another antagonist, as she tries to work through her own past and emotions to get to a better place psychologically.
This show wasn't about "let's see how many bad guys we can beat up this episode" like DD. It's about Jessica coming to grips with her broken psyche and learning how to heal herself so that she can confront and defeat the person who broke her. It's a different kind of story, and one that requires far fewer goons to punch into a wall.
I like both shows, but Daredevil season 1 had the Russians, The Japanese and the Triads. Yes Fisk was pretty much behind all of that, but he wasn't really "the" antagonist the same way Kilgrave was.
Not that I think either approach is bad - both worked IMO.
Reading my signature constitutes admission that I am correct. (Too late)

Yeah, I somewhat agree. Kilgrave was great but I feel like he should have been taken care of much sooner. Funny enough, I wouldn't mind seeing him come back.
You want something corny? You got it!
I loved seeing and hearing David Tennant in every scene he was in. I m glad there was just Kilgrave. One of the most formidable villains I've ever seen. They did a great job introducing him.
...the character was included on Rolling Stone's list of the "40 Greatest TV Villains of All Time."share
Totally agree.
