Never did I think I would be one to write such a scathing review on a show. I disliked the pilot, yet watched the next 3 episodes, and became mildly interested. After that,it started going downhill fast, then it went over the cliff, then it just got worse than I could imagine possible. What a RIDICULOUS PIECE OF CR*P.
Literally, I have never seen a worse show ever made. I would rather watch re-runs of the 1960's Batman TV show..it was more believable.
I am sorry I stuck with it long enough to see it through to the end. What a waste of time. Don't worry, I won't be around to comment on the next <unbelievably, renewed> season, because I WON'T be watching it.
I think I'll go puke now. Ugh.

Okay, so here I am stalking you from the AOS board to ask exactly what was so bad about it. It wasn't my favorite but for a superhero series it was surprisingly realistic and gritty with great acting and writing.
Use "quote" when you reply to someone so you make it clear.

LOL, its ok, Lolagranola, you can stalk me anywhere..I know you will have a respectful reply.
I just re-read my own comment, and I know how harsh it sounds, yet I still agree with myself. I know lots of others won't, but I just thought 80% of the show was awful. For most of the same reasons that other negative posts here have pointed out. Obviously, we are not all going to agree on what we like and dislike. Here is just a short list of things.
1. The acting. I think the main actress's acting is extremely one-dimensional, she basically has one emotion on her face for the whole show. The upstairs twin neighbor is even worse, if it wasn't so bad, it would be laughable.
2. The writing. Again, the twin girl upstairs..horribly unbelievable, and actually, her brother wasn't much better. Same with the heroin addict neighbor.
3. Plot points. I found the cop/boyfriend's story line ridiculously poorly written. Not NEARLY so much so as all of Jessica's bad decision-making. Seriously, moving in with Kilgrave??? I know, the defenders will say she was just trying to redeem the girl in prison, but at the cost of HOW many lives?
I could go on, but I'm sure you get where I am coming from. I'm not trying to say no one else should like it.
Peace out, see you soon on AoS board!

That is how Jessica Jones is supposed to be. She's always got that look because that is how she is. She's got a lot of trauma to work through. You can't expect her to be all bright and optimistic.

Define "bad writing" for me.

THAT IS PRETTY MUCH THE POINT OF THE SHOW. It's not poorly written. It's written that way to show that when it comes to Kilgrave, Jessica never thinks straight. Consider how she had a bad reaction to seeing him when she was rescuing Simpson, even though she had braced herself somewhat for it. Most abuse victims never are able to get over their trauma to the point that they're able to confront and turn in their abuser, much less snap their abuser's neck.
And please tell me how Simpson's plot line was "poorly written".

I think the point was that the show is written the way it is to convey what victims of abuse act like.
The decisions characters make aren't part of the writing in that these decisions are often flawed. Doesn't mean you have to say "oh ya in that case it's brilliant" or anything, just trying to illustrate why some of the things you didn't like were written that way.
If your interested, you might read this article that shows how much of what we see in the show is an accurate portrayal of how abusive relationships are and how people act who have been in them.
Yeah I started watching and I thought it was a goofy show, looked a little lower budget compared to Daredevil which is supposed to be happening right next door. Also, I didn't take Krysten Ritter seriously, but then I looked up the comic and now I think she's actually good. But it's not so bad so far moving into ep 4 or 5 but some of the moments are still kinda goofy like the cop story and yeah same things you mentioned. I had my typical backseat watcher (family member in the room who randomly criticizes a show for an out of context scene) wake up from a nap to ask if anyone else thought the show looked stupid. Me, being determined to give it a chance got irked at them even though I have my own criticisms. It's not as good as maybe Daredevil or Agents Of SHIELD.
I thought the bad guy (David Tennant I think his name is? One of the previous Doctor Who's) was brilliant in this, I really enjoyed his scenes and his character. That said, for the rest of the show and most of the cast, I'd have to agree with the OP. Maybe not to the same level of agony, I didn't hate it, but it was definitely not something worth watching without the villain. And without him, I doubt I would ever venture a peek into this series again.
