1. I'm trying to explain the show to people who clearly just don't get it or seem unable to understand what the writers were going for.

2. Jessica is self-employed. But she also doesn't make that much money. Couple that with the fact that rent rates in New York City are some of the highest in the United States. And I think money for new clothes is not Jessica's biggest priority. share
It could be that Jessica like the continuity of wearing similar clothes every day...doesn't mean she is wearing the SAME clothes...she probably has a wardrobe with 5 days worth of jeans and tops....
Maybe she doesn't care about clothes i.e what should i wear today type bollocks...maybe its purely functional as CLOTHES should be.
