About Tom Purcell (spoiler)

Did they ever make it clear that it was indeed a suicide? Or did the Hoyt make it looked like it was one but in reality they murdered him. (He did go into the pink room with somebody (Harris James?) following behind him.

reply

Looked like it was a murder. Harris creeping up behind him at the end of ep 6. One would think forensics could fill in more blanks.

reply

Ok, and it kinda justified the killing of Harris James later on a bit. Yeah I'm surprised they didn't look into that much.

reply

Forensics weren't what they are today back then.

reply

Not made clear, intentionally. The investigative reporter stated he had a major bruise at the base of his skull. It is seems entirely plausible that Harris James "pistol-whipped" him, dragged him to the fire watch tower in the park, typed the note, and killed him. Tom was clearly unhinged and could not be bought. Of course, the botched hard interrogation leading to his death ended that line of evidence.

I was wondering about that. That sounds like a good interpretation, but why would he drag him to the fire watch tower?

I was confused a lot of the times throughout the series since it goes back and forth quite frequently. That and watching many other shows didn't help much with me following the story. Had to read some summary of it to get what was going on.

Junius Watts and her father’s head of security, Harris James, who wound up killing, at least, Dan O’Brien, Lucy, and Tom Purcell in order to keep Isabel’s secret of kidnapping Julie as a replacement daughter.

Since we're hearing the story from Hays and since he suffers from amnesia, his brain was wrecked inside trying to piece together everything even until the end.

He finds Julie, and the head of security find him. Why would he commit suicide when he had basically solved the mystery of his missing daughter.

reply

He wouldn't. Puzzling how so many clear narrative beats are confusing people. . .
