Do you think they'll still retrofit Dracula Untold into this continuity?

That movie wasn't that good, but it wasn't terrible...and at worst, it could still serve its purpose of being the sort of 'optional Dracula origin story'. It could be a situation where they bring Luke Evans back as Dracula in future films, even if they never really connect to or reference Dracula Untold in any real way.

It could sort of be 'If you liked it, great, look at it as a prequel, if you didn't like it, fine, you don't need it to enjoy this series'

I can do this all day.

No Dracula Untold will never be talked about again and for good reason. They need to make a proper Dracula movie that actually fits properly into this new monsters universe.

I hope it does.

I'd like to see Luke Evans and Charles Dance have another go at those characters. It'd really feel like a missed opportunity if we don't get them again. Yet, "Dracula Untold" is starting to look a lot like a "The Incredible Hulk" situation where you have it loosely acknowledged but not much else with it.

I'm thinking by July we'll have more concrete answers.

I would like to add that if they were to go a "Penny Dreadful" route with Dracula, even though it's not quite like Bela Lugosi, it would be really cool.

As much as I enjoyed Dracula Untold for what it is worth, Luke Evans couldn't stand toe to toe with Tom Cruise or Russell Crowe. Or anyone looking to star in the UMCU. I think he's a solid actor though and I would like a separate sequel to Untold but I doubt it'll happen. Best case scenario they recast Dracula with a better actor.

If every movie in this 'verse takes place in the present or near future, I don't see why they can't have it as a prequel. Might as well.

I didn't think Untold was a bad film. It was just a completely bland and mediocre one. I also wasn't crazy about Evans in the role, even if he is a fine piece of eye candy. I'd prefer it to have as many ties to the Monsters Universe as the 2004 Van Helsing film and 2010 Wolfman film -- meaning: no ties at all.

Sometimes I think I'm the only person who actually quite liked DRACULA UNTOLD. But I really do hope they bring back Evans and Dance- they were both so good in D.U. that it'd be a shame not to bring them back. Granted, I'm hoping that for the Monster Mash part of this new series they are putting together, that they wouldn't have Cruise in it, because he's not one of the monsters- it'd be the Mummy herself, Vlad Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, etc. I can't say I've ever been a Cruise fan, plus I'm loving this female mummy story (I'm a sucker for the female pharaohs from Egypt- they all have such interesting stories!!!), so I would rather see the monsters all teaming up like a supernatural EXPENDABLES, to go fight some bigger-big bad.
