Anyone else like Tomb of the Dragon Emperor?

It is certainly the worst of the 3 Fraser films but I still can't help but enjoy it. I picked it up for $3.95 at my local Dollar General on Blu-Ray and I must say it has grown on me, I suppose because I know what to expect. IF, Weisz had been in it I think it would have been slightly better, the main thing it lacked was vision and more so good dialogue in the script.

Even with that criticism I give it a 6/10.

Yup, I agree. When I first saw the movie when it came out back in August 2008, I was let down by it, especially considering I really liked the first two. But after having seen it a few times on blu-ray, the film has grown on me. I think Fraser was still a lot of fun and I enjoyed the more silly humor that he brought to O' Connell like the fly-fishing scene and stuff like that.

But, without Rachel Weisz, the movie really was lacking and I think the movie truly suffered without her.

I just kind of now watch it as its own movie. I'm with you on the score - 6/10

Nah, if she didn't want yo come back then they should have said she stayed home taking care of the kid. Having a different actor and a kid the same age as the father especially killed it for me.

I think there were definitely ways around it. They could have made it a more Rick and Alex adventure and it probably would have worked.

"Kid the same age as the father..." - LOLOL.

whats so great about rachel weisz??

i enjoyed that movie in its own way and it had terrific special effects, better than the other two

I actually liked Maria Bello as Evy. I thought she brought something different to the character and I enjoyed her stunt work. However, I did miss Rachel.

I enjoyed Tomb very much and the effects were great. I also liked the tone Rob Cohen brought to it and I do wish we would have gotten another one, but Tomb was a nice little send up of the first 2 films and I'm okay with that.

A lot of people love that film --- it made near 400 million dollars worldwide - a tad less than the other 2 ---

I think Rachel Weisz was missed by most fans but it did not stop them from seeing the movie ---

It's a great Mummy adventure the sadness of the lack of Weisz was only momentary for me ---

Loved the new locales and the Chinese thing ---

I think all 3 films are great - can watch them all anytime ---

I preferred Weisz but hey not that much where Iam going to let it bother me --- it's just a character --- the main dude is Fraser and if they kept the series going with his family as the story I'd see it in a minute .

I wouldn't see this garbage as Tom Cruise makes me ill.

I enjoyed it for what it was. I really wish they had made the fourth film taking place in south America...but alas its not to be.

I think what most have said it was the lack of Rachael that killed the film. They could have easily said she was off promoting her books to explain why should wasn't in the film.

reply

Not at all. I can't take it seriously, what with them trying to pass Maria Bello off as the same character that Rachel Weisz played.

It was pretty bad overall. Everyone complains about the lack of Weisz but honestly I think Fraser was the biggest problem. There was just something really 'off' about him this time, like he was phoning it in.

I just thought it was plain awful. The only part I kind of enjoyed was when Jet Li turned into a Ghidorah-like creature. Other than that, it was crap.
