This franchise feels so forced!

Because I like movies, I'm hoping they do a great job with this film, and this franchise, and that it's all very entertaining.

But really, none of us expect that to actually happen, right?

This is the most forced me-too since DC began racing toward Justice League. At least the Godzilla Kaiju franchise has a history of crossover and seems a natural fit for a series of movies.

For reals, we'll all be super surprised if this turns out to be anything other than soulless drivel, right?

Frankenstein met the Wolfman in the 1930's, amongst other crossovers like that. They've done this before.

In the spirit of debate I'll comment because you seem nice and sensible. I am trying to avoid the many trolls that are ranting and raving their meaningless and baseless drivel. LoL

I disagree entirely that this feels forced. If it were forced this wouldn't be "The Mummy" this would be "The Mummy vs. The Wolf Man; Dawn of Monsters" (see what I did there).

In fact, I'm surprised how slow Universal are taking this. They have half a dozen solo movies planned. No doubt characters will crossover but it appears that each classic monster will get a movie before any monster mashup.

And as for soulless drivel. Really? Tom Cruise rarely makes drivel, especially recently where he has a fun, exciting franchise in Mission Impossible. Russell Crowe is a great actor and the director of this movie has worked on Mission Impossible and co-wrote the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies so he's no rookie.

I'm looking forward to this because a) it looks cool and b) it's NOT superheroes!

Well writing_in_red, you've won me over. You're right, I've enjoyed Cruise's picks in recent years, and your point about Universal giving each film room to breathe is indeed encouraging. As compared to DC, where they're trying to go right for the grand finale without any of the necessary story building.

Excellent points you've made.
