This easily can be called The Mummy 4 with a new cast

This movie is set in Modern times. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor had a different mummy. So it really doesn't matter. You can still watch them all.

The first one was kinda fun. They just went progressively downhill with each sequel, until they hit "Rock" bottom.

The first one is ok, then the second one just sucks, and the third one is an insult to my wallet

Really hope this one wont sucks, the writer and cast looks pretty good

I see your point but that would defeat the point of what Universal is trying to do. I'm sure you've heard they are trying to kick off the Universal Monster Cinematic Universe and if they were to include the previous trilogy, that would confuse people, complicate things and maybe turn off audiences.

The first Brendan Fraser Mummy movie is a great movie. It has that good horror thriller vibe. Sequels went down hill, but i've seen worst sequels in franchises.

Yeah, you can easily see this as The Mummy 4. But I think Universal will want to differentiate itself from the previous series, just for the sake of keeping a more consistent tone.

The tone of this one seems a bit darker and more serious.
