CGI LOOKS AWESOME....WAY BETTER THAN PRACTICAL EFFECTS...
....practical effects couldn't have done half that stuff....
shareCGI and practical effects are just tools, nothing more. There's no divine aura emanating from either - there are tons of examples of bad CG work just as there of bad practical effects work. What should matter first and foremost is quality. Whether it's been achieved through one or the other is irrelevant.
