Just saw the trailer....CGI has ruined films.

This will be yet another CGI monstrosity. When, oh when, Hollywood will you end this CGI nonsense? You've destroyed movies. Go back to practical effects or continue to see your revenues shrink.

reply

Agreed. I could at least understand if CGI was significantly cheaper than practical effects, but that is not the case. Hollywood spends way more money to produce a vastly inferior product and has been doing so for nearly 20 years. The laws of basic economics don't apply in Tinseltown, apparently.

I'm not sure it's small enough for these guys. Do have something on a nano scale?

Don't like what I'm saying? Then call 1800-Ima-CryBaby and ask for Waaaaaa.

reply

Indeed. Once again, people are complaining about CGI.

reply

....you are f'ing delusional if you think CGI has ruined film. They have enhanced them....look at how well done the Harry Potter movies had been. Practical effects never would have been as good. You need to either get on with the current generation and stopped acting like you THINK you know what you are talking about... or stop watching movies all together....LOSER...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

reply

More or less true. Movies wouldn't have advanced to were it is without CGI and motion capture. There is only so much practical effects can do.

reply

You mean like that godawful Hippogriff in the third Harry Potter movie. God, that was terrible.

reply

FYI, but CGI, like practical effects, is a tool. And like any tool, it has it good uses and bad uses. When CGi is use properly, you get awesome movies like Doctor Strange, Godzilla, Pacific Rim, etc.

At the end of the day, people need to remember that both CGI and practical effects are movies tools. And as such can be use amazingly or terribly.

reply

It's not just CGI, DIGITAL as a whole has destroyed film and photography. Having said that, what revenues have shrunk? Every film is bigger than the last one.

reply

When you have movies that cost 150-200 million to make, you better hope the revenues are big. You could make 4-5 really good films for the budgets for these big tent pole movies. And these big budget CGI stuffed movies are pretty much forgotten a year after they have been released.

What is your point?
