Why did they remake a Boris Karloff movie that uses expressionist filmmaking techniques into a movie starring Brendan Fraser as an Indiana Jones clone?

yeah guys,this is actually a franchise that started in 1932. stop talking about brendan fraser. he's just a cog in the machine here.

People keeping on mentioning Fraser because his films were relatively recent. The last Mummy movie was only in 2008 and the Scorpion King spinoff series had its most recent film last year. I am not saying those movies were good, but they are successful and still at the forefront of everyone's minds.
