What will this movie FOCUS on? What is your prediction?

After seeing the first trailer, what do you think: this movie will focus on what?

I believe it will be a blockbuster-wannabe with the sole agenda to bring up anykind of stupid story for givin' excuses for CGI orgy-fest. And the makers believe in this new-gen theory that if a movie is serious, and dark, then it will bring wider audience into the cinemas. It will have a generic story with the typical "Evil will come to Earth to destroy it, and the only hero must stop it to prevent this to happen" but in ONE thing it might want to be better than it's predecessor... yeah you guessed it, it wants to be HUGE, and MORE ACTION PACKED with FLASHY, PUMPED UP VISUALS... MICHAEL BAY STYLE.

It will have an imdb rating around 5.6 or something, and people will forget this ever existed after several weeks. But at least the studios associated with this production will get some money, and laugh how they made another unnecessary remake.

THIS has the same purpose as that POINT BREAK remake (2015) had, and it will fail in the same way.

The first thing I thought is the FOCUS would be a PG-13 rendering of the fact that the mummy is now a woman and she has breasts, even if they're thousands of years old. I can glean no other purpose for this.

It is too early to tell. From initial impressions of the trailer, though, it seems to be going for a possibly occultish/H.P. Lovecraft-type of atmosphere with some action elements, mostly due to its references of "terrors that defy human comprehension". The inclusion of Dr. Jekyll is downright puzzling. I prefer not to make predictions - better to wait and see. If the movie is good, great! If it's bad, tear it apart.

Responding to this point:
"makers believe in this new-gen theory that if a movie is serious, and dark, then it will bring wider audience into the cinemas"

Why is "darkness" and "seriousness" an issue here? I agree that not every movie has to be dark and serious - "Man of Steel" and "BVS" are perfect examples of those aspects being forced onto the characters and stories, but why "The Mummy"? Of course it would make sense for this movie to be dark and serious, it's a horror movie!

Well we can sense it that the whole Hollywood trend somehow tries to copy this "dark" tone which was pretty much started with Batman begins (if we look at the mainstream movies only), and there is no deny of this fact today, especially with sequels creators tend to do this most times. Maybe you are right about that "The Mummy" should be dark... maybe, I liked the comedy-horror concept of the Brendan Fraser movies, because with that tone it is obvious that it cannot be taken seriously, and you can have fun with that.

But who knows, this might work, and possibly end up being a reasonable "Mummy" movie. I just base on the first trailer, and it appears to be a typical hollywood movie, which the previous movies also were, but this time REALLY SERIOUS, and being serious with cheesy action sequences is not a good idea.

You are right but that's every single movie out there since Batman Begins.
