I don´t know how I feel about this

First of all First two Mummy movies (Yes even the second one) are a big part of my childhood and I love them...After Indy they are the best archeoligist/adventurer action movies...

The first trailer didn´t feel like an adventure movie...it really was like a Mission impossible with a supernatural elements in it..

I also don´t like the Mummy design...it looks like it´s from a TV series...I hope we´ll see her in her decomposed state as we saw Imothep...

But the action looks cool...And man Tom Cruise looks so young! :D

The first two Mummy movies were a big part of your childhood? Jesus, how old are you? 92, 93 years old?

I always thought they were straight up supernatural horror films, Egyptian Gothic. But I guess someone your age might see them a little differently.

It must have been something to see those in the theater when they were originally released!

I'm assuming you mean the 90s ones. While I've always been more familiar with the original, the 90s ones have a special place in my heart too.

I kind of feel the same about this one, I am getting mission impossible vibes from this.
I do like the new Mummy design though, it's a different take, and I think it looks cool. I'm almost certain that we'll see some sort of a decomposed version of her. If not, that'll be a huge missed opportunity. But in any case, we're also getting undead medieval crusaders, so that's a plus.

And God, I hope I look half as young as he does at that age. Haha

Yes I am talking about 90s movies :D I didn´t see original ones...
Question. Should I check those out? do they hold up well?

Her look is boring to me...
I guess they wanted a sexy Mummy...and female Mummy is nice change...
But I liked that Imothep was scary and decomposed throughout the majority of the movies which was great...but she looks underwhelming...she looks like "one of Mummies" not THE MUMMY...

But maybe they just showed the action part cause that´s what is finished so far...

I had no idea they were doing Universal monsters cinematic universe...well it´s trend right now...ad Crowe as Dr. Jekyll? Interesting

Man...he looks really good...I guess I should take care of my body more before it´s too late...I´m saying this to myself for some time now though...like couple of years :D
Tom Cruise is a movie star but not a great actor...but he is really good at things he does...he works hard AF and I have a huge respect for him for that...

DAMN I should do something with myself :D

Well why didn't you say so? You said you saw the first two. Confusing...

Anyway, yes they do hold up well. Also check out the Hammer Mummy films, which are pretty great too. Universal may have used Kharis multiple times, but Hammer's first The Mummy is the best Kharis film by far.

As for a sexy Mummy, Hammer has them beat at that. Check out Queen Tera from Blood From The Mummy's Tomb: http://bit.ly/2h3FPPJ

That's fine, a lot of people haven't.
I'd say it's worth checking out at least the first one if you have an interest in film history. I loved it years ago, but I personally don't believe it's aged nearly as well as some of the other Universal Monster movies. Still enjoyable, but it is kind of slow and in my opinion, not as thematically interesting.

Fair enough, to each their own.
I think they definitely wanted a sexy mummy, which I think could work (See the Hammer films), but I really want to see her decomposed as well.
I think it's fine to have a small legion of lesser mummies, even the 1999 one had that, but I can understand your issue with it.

I personally love the idea of the Universal Monster movies having an official cinematic universe. Universal Studios have actually been toying with the idea of that for years now, having multiple cross over films, and considering merging modern remakes with other franchises.
I think the casting of Crowe as Dr. Jekyll could work pretty well.

I know exactly what you mean. Haha I'm in that boat as well.

And it's never too late to start!

They kind of did that shared universe before right?

"They kind of did that shared universe before right?"

In a way, back in the 40s/50s.

Also in "Van Helsing" 2004 movie, sort of.

In a way. They had quite a few crossover movies, but it never really expanded beyond that. They definitely laid the groundwork for it.
