There's already a "The Mummy" franchise; let's not cause confusion, later, which brings me to my second point: respect the elders.

You realize the franchise you're probably thinking of was started by a remake itself, right? The Mummy started in 1932. As for causing confusion, if there can be three different Spider-Mans between 2002 and now, what's the harm in a new Mummy?
