Mental illness: Anyone's brother like Lee Harvey?
Anyone's brother like Lee Harvey?
The issue of mental illness is a big deal in this movie.
Unfortunately, I have a brother who is a lot like Lee Harvey and I felt really bad for the character of the Lee Harvey's brother. I had read about him previously and thought it was sad that his name was tainted forever after (sort of like all the people named Hitler who changed their name to Hiller and Adolph who changed their names etc.)
A person can't do anything about the fact that they have a brother like this.
I have tried so many times to help my brother. I have always wanted a brother who I could stand by and who stood by me, but my brother has never been that person, though at times he tried very hard and I feel bad for him that he was never able to be the man he wanted to be.
I wrote him a letter recently saying, "You're still my big brother and I still look up to you" but of course that was only half true and most likely he didn't even read the letter because he is in the downward spiral that mental illness causes.
He has isolated from everyone, has no family or friends who he thinks "understand" him, so he foments and gets more and more angry and more and more disconnected from reality.
None of us know what he may do.
There are many families with a family member like this.
What is happening to society that we are creating more and more men and women like this? And how do we stop it?
What hump?
