Watching the earlier Seasons...
It seems like the show only used the restaurant angle as a spoof. But its disappointing in a way. Its all about relationships only. But I was hoping it would actually show the real goings on of working in a very popular restaurant. Dealing with rude customers, incidents at work, etc. In the first season it hinted at that. But it quickly turned into Soap Opera 101.
Below Deck was more "authentic" but they quickly turned the VPR route as well. I think it would be more interesting to do documentary style. Remember "The Real World"? In the earlier Seasons it was very "real". But then it almost set the pattern for reality shows to come. The premise is just a set up for scripts.
"Life is like a box of Krispy Kreme donuts".
