I used to work a lot with people from Minneapolis and apparently I picked up a slight accent just from being around them. I've never even been anywhere near there, so, it can happen.

Oh yes -- We watched "Fargo" a while back and we went around saying "Yeah, sure, you betcha" and "Allrighty then"for a week.

reply

After watching a season of Peaky Blinders I walk around talking like them, too. It's easy to pick these things up.

It's so true. After an hour of watching Downton Abbey I'd be speaking to my dog in a (terrible) British accent.

It really does rub off. People criticized Madonna when she came home from the U.K. with a British accent, after years of living there. They should know better.

reply

Madonna faked a British accent from the time she arrived in Great Britain. She said she just felt comfortable doing so.
