Ben Raging!

I still keep trying to figure out what his problem was when the guests went for a late dinner! Since it was past 6 pm, he flips out and goes after Kate for even suggesting it to them! They were overheard by the crew and guests throughout the season! Rage-aholics! 

I was lmao when the two gay guys were sitting in the lounge and heard them squabbling and one of them said "Mommy and Daddy are fighting."

reply

That wasn't the half of it; the Captain himself had to tell them to STFU! 

Ben's letting his relationship with Emily affect his job performance! Buying those ridiculous flowers taking up so much room on such a small ship never seemed to occur to him; is he that dense?  

Ben has it bad for Emily probably because she said no. She wouldn't kiss him on their 1st date, never mind sleep with him. Ben usually gets them in the sac within 10min lol What you can't have and all that..
That gigantic flower arrangement was pretty but way too big. Ben should have known. The watered down duck soup was another screw-up that's unlike
Ben. He's distracted and it shows.

reply

The flowers were far too large. Then again, men often think bigger is better. It's not the size of the ship that matters, it's the motion of the ocean.

reply

Ben's credibility this season has taken a hit, both in and out of the kitchen. His behavior over Emily seems immature and petulant for a grown man, not to say unprofessional.

I've always respected his work ethic but his off-charter behavior on the boat has made him look like a classic British Hooray Harry. Get a grip, man -- she has a more mature head on her shoulders than you do and you're a dozen years older than she is.

reply

Yea, I've always liked him but he's starting to annoy me as this season goes on.

reply

Now he's got more to rage on due to Emily playing a "Sierra!" She's being distant and when Ben asked for another date, she said something about socializing with the group since the last charter is at hand! Why in the world is this happening? He's going to freak out I'm sure! 

I must know- what's a "British Hooray Harry?"

reply

A Hooray Harry or Hooray Henry is, according to Lingomash:

What is the slang meaning/definition of Hooray (Henry) ?

Hooray (Henry) means: Noun. A young male of the upper classes. Often abbreviated to Hooray. E.g."I'm not going in that bar again, it was full of Hoorays drinking champagne and talking about how rich they are." Also Hurray Henry or Hurrah Henry. Derog.

also

Meaning of HOORAY HENRY

HOORAY HENRY means: Hooray Henry is British slang for an offensive, rowdy upper−middle class young man.

I spent some time in Oxford in my salad days and I would say the first is closer to what it meant back in those days, which was essentially an upper middle class guy who was harmless but a bit rowdy, especially when under the influence.

reply

Yep, the flowers were OTT -- a smaller bouquet would have meant as much to her and would not have been so awkward for people (Kelley, Kate) to have to deal with.

But Ben doesn't care because it's what he wants that is important because he's in LOVE.

This goes to show you that waiting until you're in your 30s to fall in love or get the mumps makes you look like a Silly Billy.

reply

The flowers weren't really for her. They were his to show everyone, not for 'Ems to enjoy.' Putting them in the walk in to preserve longer was his idea, not Emily's. We're they ever hers?

reply

Good point.

I worked in a few restaurants and the chefs were always hotheads. I switched from server to hostess to avoid one mercurial chef, even though I lost out on tips.

Word of the Day: Emoluments

reply

I agree. Most of my employment (from 14 until after college) was spent in restaurants. Dinner houses, not fast food. Lots of that time I was in the kitchen.
Chefs are very volatile. If you didn't have a thick skin then you didn't last long. I have seen waitresses reduced to tears.
Yacht people are pretty wimpy. If I told any chef that I was feeling "negative energy" he would have hit me with a cast iron skillet!

Ben is a gem. They owe a lot of their tips to his skills.

I'm wondering if Ben will make an appearance on Top Chef.

reply

I think Ben is confident in his little galley-sized universe, I'm not sure he would have the sand to risk being eliminated on global TV in a Top Chef competition. I suspect he would do well, but I don't know if he would risk it.

reply

Oh, not as a contestant, but maybe a guest judge for a quick fire or the challenge later. That could be fun.
The chefs could do 12 tasting courses and Ben could help judge.

reply

Yes, for a quick fire judge. Something that would require them to cook in a space the size of his galley and turn out a full course dinner by themselves.

reply

Ben is an idiot.
