Ben "protecting" Emily

Since Ben and Emily started dating, Emily spends too much time in the galley.
Add to that, any time Kate speaks to Emily in a supervisory manner, Ben is all over Kate. It doesn't matter what Kate says, Ben is defensive, angry, or correcting Kate. It isn't Ben's place as chef to intervene when Kate is instructing the stews. Emily is eating it up too, as if Kate is not her senior.

When Captain Lee was telling the deck crew how to avoid having to set up the pool each charter, he suggested they use Kate's method of suggestion. Suddenly Nico was hating and ridiculing Kate again.

This season's crew is the most spoiled and lazy crew we have seen to date. Each time they are caught out disobeying orders breaking things they blame Kate. They don't want to do their jobs but blame Kate because she is responsible in her job. Even Ben blamed their punishment on Kate when they broke the panel in the bathroom.

As for Sierra, talk about self-entitled spoiled brats! She cannot remember a simple instruction after six weeks, "keep your radio with you", yet when she is caught without it, she gets angry with everyone. She even called Kyle a child when she couldn't find her radio. I hope she never comes back to the show. What a colossal failure. As Kate said "she's pretty", meaning she is not smart.

Ben has to keep out of it and let Kate do her job. I don't think Emily is eating it up though. True she doesn't say much but that is more her British reserve. She said to Sierra and in the camera interviews that she hates getting caught in between Ben and Kate's spats. She likes Ben so she doesn't want to sour their growing relationship either.

I would think Ben's outburst would color her feelings; seeing him lose his mind over nothing like that would be a "red flag" in my book! Kate hasn't done or said anything different, but all of a sudden both "hate" each others' look!  

Are Ben and Emily still together?

From that preview you saw a couple weeks ago, it seemed like Ben was questioning their relationship! Now the finale has a crew member getting engaged; thought it might be Ben, but it appears to be Kyle to his "mate," Ashley 

I would say Kyle and Ashley, also.

Bemily are very much together and very ❤️❤️❤️. Check out @ChefBenRobinson on Instagram or FB. Emily is on there too. They spent Thanksgiving together at Ben's parents house.

I don't think they are the engaged couple. I thought I saw Kyle proposing to Ashley in one of the previews too.

I hadn't thought about that being Emily's British reserve. I hope you are right. Thanks for a different perspective.

I would say "yes," to it being reserve rather than agreement. She even said to Sierra that Ben thinks he's completely justified in speaking to Kate that way, which says to me that Emily is not comfortable with it.She also said she did not like feeling that she was caught in the middle between the two.

Ben's really acting like a tool -- so that makes it unanimous for the male crew members for this season, although it's a toss up who achieved ultimate tool-ocity, Ben, Kelley or Kyle. Nico has bad mouthed Kate unnecessarily but has not sunk to the level of the other three.

reply

Yeah, Emily said something akin to that Ben always thinks he's completely reasonable when he argues with Kate because he thinks he's in the right, but I thought she clearly stated that she thought that was troublesome, meaning she does think Ben is at fault for the fights too.

Nico seems to be one who is especially insulting to Kate behind her back with name calling for no apparent reason, because they have almost no contact on the show, the exceptions being two drunken nights for the deckhands where they got in trouble. I find him to be kind of insulting to women in general though, like when he imitates being a women with silly woman problems or talking about them sexually. However, when he was on WWHL with Kelly, post-production, he talked very nicely about Kate and had her back, so obviously whatever issues he had with her are resolved.

...or he is now aware of how badly his behavior looked on the show and is trying to do some repair work before they hit the reunion.

reply

That's about it; knowing what he said in the "talking heads!" He needed to "clean it up" before he had to face her in the reunion!  

Yea, I like Ben but he's being a bigger as than normal this season. And I don't know where Nico's hate for Kate comes from.
