More movies like this?

I really like philosophical movies that make you think, like Zero Theorem and Naked (1993), any other movies like that?

P.S. I know there's Brazil, but I don't recall liking it much, maybe I'll give it another try, long time since I seen it.

You definitely need to give Brazil another shot. It is a phenomenal film.

I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I-I've never seen that.

reply

Agree. Brazil is everything this is, and better.

You definatelly need to see Primer.

Another vote for Primer.

primer sucks

reply

seen primer, don't recall liking it much, I guess it had an interesting start, but very confusing and complicated later.

Primer is absolutely nothing like The Zero Theorem. I'm not saying it's not a good movie but it's completely the opposite of TZT in every way. The way it's filmed, it's realism as opposed to TZT's surrealism, the narrative style....basically just everything.

Reaction time is a factor in this, so please pay attention.

Cloud Atlas, Trance, Arizona Dream, The Congress, Jacob's Ladder, Most People Live in China, Songs From The Second Floor, The Project, Donnie Darko

Primer is good stuff, it's just not presented in the cinematic language we are used to in the 21st century. So, if you want to 'get it', (and still didn't get it the first time) well, you'll just have to watch it more times. For me it's kind of the same as with Fellini's 8 1/2. The more I've seen it, the more I've liked it. And I REALLY disliked it the first time.

thanks for many suggestions, I didn't see many of those.

As for philosophical films, I can't recommend Synechoche, New York highly enough.

Science can't explain everything, but religion can't explain anything.

seen it, all I remember was the interesting visuals, didn't like the movie itself.

You should see the French movie Thomas in Love. To put it mildly, more than several things in Zero Theorem are lifted straight out of it (pretty much all the aspects other than the zero theorem stuff itself). I love both movies.

seen the trailer, looks very interesting, I hope I can find the subtitles with the movie.
