Man, I was Wrong. I've Done a 180 on FSOG. It's great.
I posted earlier that i thought FSOG was terrible. I watched it again and realized I was wrong. I watched it again and loved it. So why?
The second time, I understood how the characters grew within the relationship and appreciated the subtlety of their performances. James Dornan can act--see The Fall--so I realized he made a conscious decision to play Christian the way he did and I understood why. Knowing the story the second time (I haven't read the books) I had more time to see what the director was doing with pacing and lighting and composition and humor.
The third time, I decided Dakota and Jamie are two of the best looking people on the planet and their chemistry was palpable. Plus, I had read an article in Bloomberg about the material possessions of Christian's world and I was able to appreciate those too.

I have not changed my mind about the books. I've read bits here and there and the writing is atrocious. So now I have to wait until 2017 to have the story continue. 😢
