People who like this have obviously never seen Basic Instinct
Or Fatal Attraction, or Unfaithful, or Basic Instinct 2, or Bram Stoker's Dracula, or Body Of Evidence, etc, etc, etc.

shareBasic Instinct is a very good film but totally different from this the only thing in common is the S&M but their plots are way too different.
Basic instinct is an erotic thriller with a detective storyline meanwhile Fifty Shades is a romance. The more comparable films to fifty Shades are the Twilight Saga, The Thomas Crown Affair 90s version and 9 1/2 weeks.
I don't agree about 9 1/2 weeks...at least in that movie's time frame...if they had stayed together,maybe...but he brought a prostitute into their love affair...she never met his family...nor any of his friends...it was a 9 1/2 week
sexual romp..not much BDSM at all...in fact he was the voyeur...the only sex in Twilight was married sex between two virgins..loved TCA...but they were two experienced adults...but loved that love story..
The next two 50 Shades movies have a whole different theme to them..lots more romance..thrills...drama..and??????????????
but he brought a prostitute into their love affair.
Well im not saying all my examples are identical to fifty ahades but all have a few similarities.
First this was inpired by Twilight, fifty started as Twilight fan fiction but some stuff changed just google it by Masters of tge universe being inspired by twilight which was the first name of fifty shades if grey when it included the names of Edward and Bella.
The comparison to 9 1/2 weeks its because of the ice game, the mysterious man thing and how it got more intense as their relationship advances.
The Thomas Crown Affair well both have the glider date scene and like Christian Thomass does some stuff for the first time. Christian never brought a woman with his parents before Anna and Thomas never brought anyone to his beach house before Catherine. Also Both Thomas and Christian owned the building they were working in and both had an acquisitions company.
Both were suit ahd ties men.
Basic Instinct appeal was it's Film Noire Aesthetic. This movie is bordering on making fun itself in the writing, and that's why a lot of people enjoyed it despite the vanilla sex scenes.
"Once men have tasted caviar, it baffles me how they settle for catfish."
-Blair Waldorf
And it was a true erotic thriller...not a whole lot of romance...lots of kinky sex though..and female empowerment.
shareThis movie is basically plaugerism of Soderberghs film Secretary.. like exactly
No it isn't...Ana never works for Christian...and that is the main plot point of Secretary...Lee has been in a mental institution...tried to commit suicide..is engaged to another guy when she goes to work for Mr.Grey..
Christian introduces Ana as his girlfriend, she meets his family...they go out in public...Lee and Mr. Grey did none of this...and most of all, Lee was into the submissive lifestyle, Ana is not.
