Having sex in her parents' house

Was I the only one who was somewhat bothered by this? I'm no prude, but I just feel like it's disrespectful to have sex in your parents' home. I know in the movie they were supposed to be portrayed as young, naive teenagers who were completely infatuated with one another, but still...at least in The Notebook (a movie a lot of people seem to compare this to) Ali and Noah's first time was in an abandoned house. Plus, what would have happened had her parents woke up? I think it would have added to David's character more and made him more noble and gentleman-like if he'd found some other place for them to get it on.

I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves.

It was all Jade's fault so you can't blame David. She left him the note to wait until all the lights are off (why would he assume that such a sweet, innocent girl was asking him to come back for sex?) He even told her he could wait, but nooooo. Jade didn't want to wait. Regarding whether it was disrespectful? Nah. Her father was a cheater and her mom was living vicariously through Jade so she probably would've approved.

By the way, Jade and David didn't even use a condom! :)

In the original the mother sees the two of them getting it on in the house at night. Did that happen in this one ? I forget.

Have you not seen the first movie? The mom did wake up. She just watched. That's right, she stayed at the top of the stairs and enjoyed the show.
