I'm so annoyed (spoilers)

Why call this movie EL if it has NOTHING to do with the book/original film?

Reboots I get, but this wasn't even a legit reboot. You can't make Spider-Man evil. So why change EVERYTHING from the original?

Yeah, there were certain elements in common, names of characters, overbearing father; but other than the names of characters, they changed everything!!!

I only saw this because I remembered liking the original. I feel like a sucker, because if it was named anything else, I wouldn't have watched it.

I kept waiting David to be overly-obsessed and not so much a good-guy. I waited for him to set he fire. I waited for the dad to die because of him (which was the turning point in the original for Jude. That's when she resented David). I kept waiting for the mom to watch them having sex.

I expected more.
