Awesome pictures, bad writing (spoilers)
Just saw it and loved the beautiful colors, settings and costumes. The CGI was in fact pretty decent as well.
But many things made me almost angry at the movie, ranging from bad acting to minor plotholes:
1) The kids were terrible! Their lines were lame, and they acted overall pretty badly. Those scenes were pretty obvious and useless, and felt like a rip-off what could be called "How I Met Your (Beastly) Father"
2) The Gaston guy (Perducas) was indeed unlikeable, and seeing him die was I guess made to satisfy the audience. I get that. But his death didn't really make sense: why would the Forest God be mad at him in particular? Really, he didn't do anything really bad. Two more meaningful victims would have been 1) his girlfriend, who disrespected the Nymph's body (she stole the golden arrow), or 2) Belle's brother, Maxime, who led the thieves to the castle, and was actually responsible for all the mess in the first place.
3) When you receive a precious bottle of healing potion, why the hell would you waste it all on one unique person? No one on earth would just use it all like that, I'm pretty sure you'd start with a drop, see what happens and go on. It also seemed like her father woke up right after the first drop, so why didn't she stop? Haha, that made me so angry! In the next scene, I was secretly hoping that the beast would die: that would have served her well for wasting that potion so stupidly, as it could have saved him on the spot, instead of rushing through the root-infested-castle
4) It seemed kind of odd that the Forest God would help Belle get to the Beast at the end. She was indeed just some girl taking the place of his own daighter in the heart of the Beast. I guess he was just a merciful Good Guy God or so, but still.
5) The Nymph was kind of naive, when dying, she asks her father to spare Vincent Cassel, "who gave her an infinite amount of love". Yeah right: he basically broke the only promise she asked of him, prefering to play on his own for pride than to love her and respect her simple promise. He also didn't seem in love at all, rather interested in "having her" after his leasure with his friends, drinking and hunting. The most shocking in the end, is that Belle who witnesses all of this also falls for that douche-beast :')
Haha, but as I said, the movie was nonetheless pretty enjoyable and visually entertaining, and so i settled for 7/10.
Please feel free to justify what I maybe incorrectly took for plotholes!
