Beautiful set and costume design!
Just stunning. :)
You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. So you might as well do whatever the hell you want.

Totally agree! The castle when it is lit by the sun is fantastic!
The first dress she had on (silver I think) was absolutely amazing!

Frankly, I thought the whole film was simply beautiful. And they kept the story relatively intact to the original fairy tale. So I agree that it was all rather stunning.
Also, I didn't mind the CG. I really thought it would have looked silly to do full on make up for Vincent Cassel. I'm sure the CG is a time saver in many respects as well, and less arduous.
The whole film was beautiful.
Agreed. The movie was visually pleasing due to the jaw-dropping gowns, wonderful cinematography and sumptuous sets.
Unfortunately the filmmakers dropped the ball with the script. Belle and the Beast's budding romance - which is supposed to be the heart of the story - was barely developed. It felt flat, rushed, unconvincing and unsatisfying. Belle's "love" for him wasn't at all believable - it came out of nowhere. There wasn't enough build up, we didn't see these two characters connect, etc. And imho too much time was wasted on the Beast's backstory and Belle's family. The dialogue was cringeworthy at times too.
The CGI wasn't that great either (the dogs were adorable though). All in all I give this a 6/10.
**ETA**: I've just watched Jean Cocteau's La Belle et La Bête. Despite it being almost 70 years older, it's far superior to Gans's version.
