I was lucky enough to watch this on a plane coming back from the U.K. I wasn't disappointed in the overall film but I agree in that I just didn't understand why Belle would love the Beast. Not enough development. Felt rushed.

The problem was that they didn't make them interact enough (just a five minute montage or conversation would've been enough) and the human version of the Beast was actually pretty horrible. So all in all, Belle never did know the Beast a good or awesome person or whatever, nor did she have any connection to him, so you don't get WHY she would love him. The message of Beauty and the Beast" is that appearances can be deceiving but with this Beast nothing really proved the appearance to be deceiving...
I did really like this movie. But a while after I watched it I realized why the Belle-Beast couple seemed forced.
Elegant and ferocious neither good nor bad. Full of beautiful things. Unspeakable things
