Alien: Covenant vs Life
should be an interesting competition between the two.
shareLife looks fun but derivative. Alien is the real deal for me.
shareI'm still betting on Alien: Covenant being much better.
But Life is getting rather good reviews (69%-71% on RT). I thought it was going to get torn apart.
I thought Life was vastly superior to Prometheus - the acting was particularly great.
And the alien creature in Life was way overpowered - making alien creatures in Alien seem like play toys (in the big picture, one alien creature from Life arriving on Earth pretty much dooms all human life - while the alien creature from Alien - not necessarily so, even with the queen present).
At the same time, there were also a few 'plot holes' of sorts in the script, but nothing as bad as Prometheus.
At the end of the day, aren't most alien films of this sort derivative from horror films? You get to know the main characters, then they encounter an alien and then most/all of the characters die in the fight for their lives (the alien sometimes dies, sometimes lives).
My fear is, AC will suffer from similar script issues as Prometheus, in which case Life will trump them both.
I have now seen both and I would give Life the edge. I thought Alien:Covenant was a mess.
shareI'm guessing life inspired by alien. I'm always curious on what an Alien reboot would look like. I have always been curious about Ridley Scotts original vision for a transparent alien. I wondered if it would look like a jelly fish or a creature that still had bones but was mostly transparent. Like this fish with see through bones. http://static.palingseru.com/2013/07/Ikan-transparan.jpg
shareLife wasn't very good, but was watchable - unfortunately, it beats Alien: Covanent by a good bit. -.-
shareMark kermode said life was a rip off of alien, yet there was more originality in that movie than there was in alien covenant. I hated both movies, but hes not wrong.
