What age of audiences do they target??

I thought I was going to see a low budget alien invasion somewhere between "Body Snatcher" and "Independent Day". I've set my expectation way too high!

As the story proceed I felt like watching another "adaptation-from-trilogy-written-by-female-author-targeting-primary-schoolgirls" movie. Every twist and plot were predictable, right from the spot the army show up, and to Ben's discovery, then to Evan's revealed.

Even the characters were borrowed:
> The I'm-hot-but-couldn't-find-guys school girl forced to become strong
> A Mr.Perfect-except-he-can't-love-you-normal who stuck between duty and personal interest
> The sorry-but-your-girl-love-the-other-guy competitor
> The I'm-tough-just-look-at-my-gothic-makeup rebellious girl, with social problem but may eventually paired up with boy competitor
> A weak boy to play the MacGuffin.
> An adult super villain who has the intelligent no higher than bunch of teenagers.

I skipped the followups of Maze Running, I'll skip this one too!

Classics are names that everyone heard, yet most have never seen!!

From the internet, an interview:

"The agents knew it was time for another movie featuring Chloë Grace Moretz, at her age and considering the competitive nature of young actresses she needs to be kept in the public eye. There was no particular target age, and this script was considered a great compromise at best, but there was no quick alternative so we made it. It actually turned out a bit better than most in the production staff thought it would. "

13 to 19.

20 would be too old to watch this.

Yeah that was about it. Though you forgot something at the beginning:

> At the very beginning of the movie: Introduce a "fascinating" plot that makes absolutely no sence, is scientifically completely BS, but with which we can get away with because we are going to introduce a cast of hot young actors and actresses, so the whole cinema wont notice all the PHAIL we are introducing.

Obviously teenage girls

I would certainly agree with that. This movie was aimed at the under 15s.
