Was driving into the centre of Birmingham last week, and looked to my left as I was going up a ramp, and lo and behold, down on the street level below, was the row of red doors where Gates gets tortured (or at least very, very similar ones). Brought a smile to my face.

Yes it was filmed in birmingham city centre with broad street lloyds house as the main station and also the old fire engine station by the dental hospital as the place where they tortured arnott ,

An excellent series with a suprisingly good Neil morrisey.
