Please explain.
This was the title in my one time profession when asked to give an account for or about something which might have been seen as wrong doing etc.
In this you are handed a sheet of paper and told to 'PLEASE EXPLAIN'. It was of course just a saying which stuck.
D I Denton could have sent a few of these to the THUGS who assaulted her in the female wash room. That in itself very near to a being thought of as a sexually motivated physical harassment on a SUPERIOR OFFICER. Her immediate superior also should be taken out and 'shot'.
I have only watched two episodes and will perhaps go the full hog tonight and view it all to the end. Knowing that in the last series an investigation was made rightly into the activities of an up his own rear passage self advancing copper and did not end all that well leads me to believe that Keely Hawes might just suffer at the end of this. I do hope that she is not the BADDIE.It is a pity that her abilities might have only been seen as a one series requirement. I have enjoyed her on screen activities and note that a few lines give us a good clue as to the underlying make up of a Girl who started off this life with very honourable intentions [unlike many of the macho male cops portrayed as defenders of the underlying corruption that is a running sore within that organisation. Having had to turn the key on so many coppers gone bad for one reason or another I know they exist. How many of you out there have enjoyed being told things like don't use such and such a road tonight when driving home from the PUB [alehouse] as a breath [dui] squad is on that road tonight. And that's the smallest offence I can think of. Other than fiddling expenses. False arrests, fabricated evidence and now it seems assaulting women in toilets is now a possibility. Oh yes and having sex with a rape victim. In fact that was a threesome. Mind you they were only sacked because they were on duty. I Jest there. But they probably claimed for meal vouchers for their absence from the station.
I wonder who was the victim of that sort of attack that allowed the author to include it as part of the story. It would seem on the face of it that Hawes' character was being held responsible for the deaths of colleagues and she was meant to accept this one time punishment [like Sam the Shammys [Neil Morrisey] long distance gobbing on a fellow officer [again female] in the previous series. But I did see a Sergeant tell someone on the phone that She was on her way. Denton
Personally I would have it that any one REALLY uncooperative in internal investigation had their cards well marked.
Regarding being under suspicion when personal finances are involved. There is a rule and regulation [probably within all law enforcement employments]about borrowing and getting into financial straits and it can lead to sacking. So that is important. Denton only brought it up as part of her self defence and made a very good point of how it was delivered. I felt that her turning the tables during that interview prior to being charged was very well done and gave me little shadenfreude to her inquisitor struggle.
Odd that no one has been to the attractive nurses home to give her a seeing to. Sorry perhaps our protagonists friendly assault counted as equal to Dentons shaming.
So I ask again. Have we been made privy to how our not so noble POLICE punish transgression within their ranks involving all levels for safety and the victim needs to be wise not to make a fuss.
Sincerely, if it were me everyone of them [in that cubicle except the black boss cos that would be a racist attack ?????]would eventually find themselves falling out of windows or similar. In fact lets have a third series where Keely Hawes deals with each one per episode and uses her great skills in hoisting them by their own corrupt failings.
I sort of agree that this is fairly normal drama but it has held my attention as did SHADOW LINE a little while ago.
As for denials of police corruption we should know only too well it is going on and being washed in public. Oddly enough the biggest casualties I remember to date have been minorities. A seemingly genuinely bad cop the most senior ASIAN and a female quite senior cop who leaked information to the press but denies it was for financial gain and that is fairly recent. So offering some disposable heads on blocks [to deflect deeper attention might also be part of the institutionalized force. Does sound a bit conspiratorial I suppose.
Hope Keely gets them all. Especially the long distance 'gob chucking' [for USA and others this is the act of sniffing all your semi solid nose gunge into your mouth and spitting the mess of green slime a large distance onto someone you dislike as opposed to spitting on genitalia as a sociable gesture prior to WHATEVER] Morrisey who seems to have a couple of moments to play out in this series. Get him a wheel chair by doing in his good leg and make sure he gets no pension.
Query and rant over now.
