This may be a spoiler, but I think he might be a little bit of a wrong 'un.

I'm going to go so far as to say he's a cad and a bounder. Strong words, but I'm afraid that's just the way I feel.

Have you watched all 3 seasons of LoD?
He is a creep...I can barely stand to watch the screen when he is on it and the idea that he is trying to game Kate in S3 just adds to my distaste...I know why he is doing it..L it the guy's oily nature and cadaverous just repulses me...
I don't think I can watch another season if he is in it...

I only started watching the show with the first episode of season 3. I am now going back over the previous two seasons and am currently halfway through season 1 where he's still only a supporting character as part of DCI Tony Gates' team. I can't wait to see the moment when he is first revealed as a real wrong'un.

But I'm surprised you feel this way about him. He's such a great baddie and surely one of the key elements of the show.

Not saying he isn't an effective actor
I just wouldn't like him in anything I guess

Don't you feel like that about some actors?

No-one beats Gene Hunt for me - there have been a few good bent cops on TV though.

Gene Hunt is awesome of course (funny how Keeley Hawes always seems to get mixed up with these dodgy coppers), but he's more of a loveable anti-hero. What I love about 'Dot' is that he's a real slime-ball, yet he keeps getting away with it. Of course, I probably shouldn't feel that way since it has now transpired that he's been covering up for child molesters, pretty much the worst type of people in society, but I do get a bit of a kick out of how he somehow manages to keep getting himself off the hook, even coming off as a decorated 'hero' officer in the process.

The only good thing about the US remake of LoM is that it got me to watch the UK version, then AtA, and then State of Play. Harvey Keitel just couldn't pull off Gene Hart.

Greatest parody clip of all time. ;-)

He was the most British-looking dude I’ve seen. You don’t even need to hear him talk to realize he’s British
